Designs and Garments
I started sewing in the third grade, after receiving a sewing machine for Christmas. My mom, next-door neighbor Susan, and grandma all sewed and made me dresses and matching sets for me and my twin brother in our childhood. I’d run around school measuring friends and sketching out designs I dreamed of bringing to life. But soon, the frustration set in—patterns were confusing, the machine uncooperative, and I swore off the whole thing. Alas, that little girl gave up her dream of being a designer.
Fast forward to 2020—the year I lost my mom. The sewing machine I had gifted her became mine once more. For years I had begged friends and their moms (looking at you, Susan Olsen!) to make me costumes and gowns. Finally I said enough, I CAN DO THIS MYSELF! So one Covid social distancing weekend I decided to make Belle’s ballgown. Then came the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere—no brand had the corseted dress I imagined in my size, and with a week to go, I made it myself. That’s when it clicked. I knew I had it in me to create my dream costumes and ballgowns. This was my calling.
The Wedding Gown that changed my life
I offered to make my bestie’s, Becca, wedding gown for her Hobbiton Wedding in April of 2024. I thought we were going to do some simple Elvish-inspired gown. But no, Becca had an entirely different vision in mind. She said GOLD ROYALCORE! And it turned into a steel boned corset, with 10ft long train and a 15 ft hooded cloak. This gown and wedding went viral across all social platforms and the influx of wedding dress requests started.
